Rui Carvalho tops the scoring

Rui Carvalho’s two goals against Lowbridge Athletic took him to five in the league, top of the Ervin Town scoring chart ahead of Callan Kerr and Ibrahima Owusu on four.

The Portuguese forward, 26, scored twice in the 6-0 win over Thornvale Town, once against Ashbourne Rovers and twice more on Saturday: a ninth-minute finish at the near post and a volley from Connor Crossley’s cross before the half hour.

“He’s sharper in the box than anyone I’ve worked with,” head coach Callum Yardley said. “Now we need those goals away from home too.”
