Mellor’s late goal wins it at Harwick Park
Declan Mellor finished Caio Lacerda’s pass with 16 minutes left, and Jordan Brierley kept a full Harwick Park out for the rest. A second away win in three games, and a fourth clean sheet of the season for the man in navy.
Harwick had the better of a tight first half and 15,510 people let them know it. Ashbourne went in level at the break, and Ryan Barlow’s answer was to push Mellor further forward. It took until the 74th minute to pay off. Lacerda carried the ball out of defence, found Mellor between the lines, and the midfielder hit it low and early past the keeper.
“We defended like a team”
“Harwick are hard to play against at home, and they made us suffer,” Barlow said. “But we defended like a team, Jordan was brilliant when we needed him, and Declan took his chance. That’s three goals for him now, and he’s a midfielder.”
The three points were a sixth league win of the season. Full match stats and the line-ups are on the match page.
