Five players, three goals each

Ask who scores Ashbourne’s goals this season and the honest answer is: everybody. Declan Tierney, Jordan Norris, Ethan Garside, Declan Mellor and Kwame Ndiaye all have three league goals each. Three of the five are midfielders.

Owen Whitaker has two, both in the 5-2 win over Stanmoor Wanderers. Liam Coulson, Nathan Pickering and Sander Visser have one each. That’s 20 goals from nine different players in 16 games.

“I’d love a 20-goal striker,” Ryan Barlow admitted. “Every manager would. But teams can’t just put two men on one player against us, because the next one will hurt them. Garside and Mellor arriving late in the box is a big part of how we play.”
